I don't know, but everyone says I build too many cities (60).

Nothing.I build tons & tons of cities. Nothing more satisfying than completely covering huge maps with your cities. I've heard some twats scorn having tons of cities, but what's better during war, having 5 cities producing military units or 60? Also, cos you've got so many cities, you have more flexibility in concentrating some cities on building decent facilities (SP's for example) even during war-time, so base facility production never suffers. Micro-management become extremely tedious towards end of game though (took about 45 mins to run through production sequence after end of turn in one game). |

Also forgot to say that beware of Bulk Matter Transmitter SP with lots of cities (correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it provide +50% mineral production/city rather than the stated +2/city?). I built this SP with about 100+ cities and my planetary pollution shot through the roof. I received 3 Global warming alerts and sea levels rose about 1000m over the next 20 years (rush those pressure domes!!). Couldn't vote for sea-level drop with the council either cos of sun-spot activity which was quite annoying. |

Forgot yet another thing - more cities = more council votes. |

There are efficiency problems/drones as you build more and more cities, but if you can handle the drones, there's no big deal. There was an old thread here about efficiency and drones with a formula for calculating the number of extra drones based on efficiency and # of cities. No guarantee that it didn't vanish mysteriously. |

my drones get out of hand when I build more than 20 cities. I could raise the psych rate, but whats the point. More cities is more research, but if I lower the labs rate, I'm back where I started. The trick is to do more with less. You don't need 30 or 60 cities. Unless you really enjoy covering the map and terraforming that many cities. But with supply crawlers (the most powerful unit in the game) you can win the game with 1 city. |

It's much easier to do this when you are Pk's. |
