Natguy: Here's my translation of Edward's question. (Edward: you really need to think before you type, and check over your postings for spelling errors before you send them. Chaucerian English is dandy, but it is hard reading.)"When the UN charter is repealed, is there a downside to the nerve staples, aside from the [drones] developing a resistance [to being stapled]?
Also how long does it take [for them] to develop a resistance, and how to you reduce [the number of] drones, other than taking [workers] off resources [to create more doctors, empaths, etc] ([which is] not always practical in the quantity needed).
I'm looking for something more immediate than base facilities ([as] they don't get built without minerals or during a drone riot)."
Well, Edward, I rarely staple my drones, because I always vote against repealing the UN charter, as I don't trust Yang or the Gaians not to planet bust, nerve gas, and genocide me. Also, I want them to suffer drone problems too.
The best way to deal with drones is to get the secret projects that counter them, such as the Virtual World (especially when I'm University of Planet).
If you're having trouble getting the SPs, then remember to expand fast, start building SPs as early as you can afford, then research for Wealth so that you can build Supply crawlers.
If you still have trouble with drones, then don't let your baes get so big. Build colony pods instead, and make lots of small bases. This is much safer in the short term, and much more productive in the medium to long term.
A second research objective is Orbital Spaceflight, so you can build (lots of) Skyfarms, to feed your large bases when you have to take them off food to counter the drones. Remember that for a long time each base needs an Aerospace Centre to launch Skyfarms, and/or to receive the food.
This technology also lets you build conventional missiles (very handy against entrenched troops - see a recent thread) and planet busters to intimidate or vaporise your enemies. It also leads to some other useful techs.
