posted 06-19-99 12:31 PM ET I'm just a little puzzled over the golden age scene. What is it? What does it do? And how do i get it? What benefits does it offer?

A Golden Age is when your Talents in one base are greater than or equal to your Workers (not including Specialists) and there are no drones in that base. I believe it gives +1 energy and +2 growth (you'll have to check that).

I believe Specialists are included. That is, the number of Talents must be greater than or equal to one half of the total number of citizens in the base.
The _supposed_ benefits are +2 Growth and +1 Economy. As Dierdre, using Demo/Green/Wealth and with a Children's Creche (+4 Growth and +1 Econ, that is), I found that Golden Ages do increase the base economy to +2 (+1 energy/square) and increase the growth (the nutrient scale in the upper left-hand corner shrinks) but do _not_ cause a population boom (which is what growth +6 is supposed to do.)
OK? I go now.

Actually Green decreases growth by two. Demo/Green/Wealth doesn't give +4 growth, +1 economy. Demo/Planned/Wealth does. That would mean you have +2 growth, which doesn't give a pop boom.

Oops. I meant Demo/Simple/Wealth. The only time I was not Green in order to boom, and it didn't work.
I go now.
