One thing I miss from Civ is the ability to check intelligence. There's probably a way to do it but I just don't know how. As planetary governor I can tell what people are making, but I don't even get info on pact brethren like what they're researching. I've tried checking datalinks, and infiltrating with a probe, but all I ever get is info on the faction's pluses and minuses. How do I find out what someone is researching, the size of their military, the number of their PBs, their energy, their other alliances, etc.? Any help much appreciated.

After you have infiltrated Datalinks with a probe team (or alternately build the empath guild or get elected planetary governor), you can check city production by clicking on the opponent faction's cities. To check military, economy, etc. hit F2 (for science for example) then click on the opponent faction's icon and the display will show their science report. Of course, this can be done for any of their reports. |

I will have to go home and double check on it one more time but I'm pretty sure that I get no intelligence data by being a Planetary Governor although the manual claims so. Is it a bug that has been fixed in later patches ? In the current game, as a Planetary Governor, I'm slugging it out with Santiago and I'm dying to know what she's up to but all I can do is to build a drop-pod probe team to go to her continent and infiltrate the datalink. I have no problems getting data from my pact brother though. |

I think that this was fixed in v3.0 |

Go into the commlink menu. Right click on a faction and go to "Faction Profile" on the popup menu. If you're allied, governor, or have an infiltrator this will tell you their mood with you, what they're researching (blind off), their status with other factions, and how much money they have. Oh and you can't directly tell how much military they have, but you can add up everything in their cities (groan). |

Once you have datalink infiltration, it's trivial to count the enemy's military.Just hit F7 and click on the icon of the faction you want to see. On the lower left hand side you'll see a weighted total of that faction's unit capacity. A list of active and in-production units are displayed in the main screen area in the center. |
