It's tough, but worth it for the crisis-coping strategies that you develop.

Sure, it's way more challenging than saving and reloading every time you meet a Unity pod, or every time your Scout Patrol steps into a patch of fungus, or every time you fight a battle. The only thing I'd say is that I don't actually use the "Ironman" setting, because it's very annoying when the game crashes after a two-hour session and you have to replay 50 or more turns. I operate a voluntary Ironman, where I just don't save and reload. Same thing, but without the added worry that the game will crash and you'll have wasted all that time Nell |

I do, but that's mainly because I never save anyway until I stop playing because I always forget, and I never reload so I might as well get the score bonus. |

I used to play Ironman, then I stopped due to a now infamous bug, I disable the thing which causes the bug in the aplpha.txt. But I still just play Ironman in spirit. Nell is right, it is erally annoying to lose about 50 turns, especially if they turned out great, to a game crash. I don't really play for score, so the bonus doesn't really seem to be any incentive to play it. Long as you have a little thing called willpower, you can avoid saving/reloading.Trippin Daily -Ironman in spirit- P.S. Nell, you should complain to FIRAXIS about there not being an Ironwoman option. |

I'm the same, Ironman in spirit if not in fact. I'm not bothered about the score so I may as well take precautions against the occaisional crash. The bitch is there's no choice to turn it off for hotseat. I play a regular game with a good friend and it's a little tiresome to have to exit the game every ten turns or so in case something goes horribly wrong and we lose the entire session. <mutter, grumble> |

I play Ironman too, and if I crash I just restart at the last Automatic Save. This way, I only loose my last turn if any. |

Note : There is just one automatic Save, when you play Ironman. |

Ironman would be OK later on but at the start little things ( like releasing 3 puny mindworms ) can make all the difference. And if you just got a great random map this could be a bit annoying.Aman Rusty Man |
