Topic: Civil War? Restarting factions?

In Civilization and Civ II, capturing a rival civilization's capital would cause a "civil war." Half of that civilization's cities would immediately change to a civilization of an already eliminated color. (Example: Romans (white) are destroyed. Thebes (Eegyptian capital - yellow) is captured. Half of Egyptian cities change to Russian (white).)My question is, does this ever happen in SMAC? I've noticed on the custom rules menu that there is an option "Don't restart eliminated factions." I always leave this unchecked, but I never see factions restart after their leaders have been captured and interrogated.

No possibility of civil war in this game. Obviously, a faction is not going to restart after its leader has been captured -- it's gone. If it did restart, you would see a message saying that the leader has escaped.RAS |

To be more specific, if you kill off an faction very early on [in the 1st century], the faction will often be restarted. A new colony pod will appear elsewhere. |

1. If you have the Factions Restart turned off, they are eliminated. Turned on, the leaders escape, and will restart elsewhere on Planet.2. Even after a Faction has been eliminated, if you have civil unrest (no Childrens Crech), the city will revert to the eliminated faction.
