posted 04-25-99 04:08 PM ET ok tell me if you guys think this will work... after settling down nicely having all needed improvements built... change terrain into farms/solar collectors and just blast off nessus mining orbital pod to control the amount of needed minerals. therefore you wouldn't overproduce minerals causing eco damage and producing as much population as your heart's content. i don't know if this will work... will it?

This strategy should work, but it takes a lot of time and/or capital/resources to make those formers and do that terraforming. Also, make sure you don't make too many mineral improvements in a city. This could take you over the bar, and then you'd have to kill a station or two.

presence... what did you mean it can take me over the bar if i build too many mineral improvements in a city? also... i read somewhere in the posts that it's possible to destroy terrain improvements by the use of orbital defense pods. if this is true then can someone please tell me how to do this. another thing... is it possible to destroy your own orbital pods? if yes... then how?
i've asked these questions because i went on the orbital pods menu(F6) and i couldn't find any way to target anything. thanks in advance for those who reply to this post.

"over the bar" when your mineral production gets high enough, no matter how you obtain it(even w/o boreholes and mines), eco-damage will occur, the "bar" is the threshold.
Orbital defense pods can be used to destroy other factions satellites and defend against their planet busters(50% chance to destroy after launch). Destroy satellites from the F6? menu (never tried it). I've never heard they could be used to destroy terrain enhancements.
Destroying your own satellites... I'm not sure its possible, and it would be pretty rare that you'd want to (maybe mining stations to reduce ecodamage?), but try fiddling around with the satellite (F6?) menu.
