posted 04-15-99 10:46 PM ET I have noticed that alot of you have expressed opinions/strats on several factions. Why you come over to the faction forum and read up on the various faction straties threads that have been posted and maybe join in? Its always fun to get some new voices for our ongoing arguments on the best factions.

Spartans are the best!
No they aren't, the Hive is.
The Hive sucks, play as the PK
You too can be a part of the ongoing debate, which is not anything like the above. Come on, you know you wanna read some great strategies about the factions and get a chance to voice your opinion about your favorite one!

Though they weren't my first choice, I lean towards the Gaians just because they have the best chances of survival against the mind worms at the beginning of the game. At any of the higher levels the survival of every colony pod is crucial. THe gaian ability to capture mind worms makes the largest difference. As the game progresses, the fact that Planet is not bent on destroying you preserves more of your resorces than you trade for harsh economic or industrial social modeling. The firmer infrastructure that this allows enables much more efficient defence of your terrirtory.

I agree with Kundun. Surviving early on and the easier fungus movement is a key to my gameplay. I play Transcend level with blind/tech stagnation/and no unity pods so the ability to build formers immediately is also huge. I usually have the Weather Paradigm before turn 50 further increasing my hold upon Planet and resource management. By capturing the first mindworm you see you also have a chance at a blitzkrieg if you should happen upon another faction close by. Kill that faction's colony pod or even take their only city. If they have more than one they'll probably surrender, unless it's Miriam or Santiago. Finding and failing capture also nets 10 energy credits each time early on. That first mindworm is a goldmine! And if you play with Unity pod scattering that first worm can move 3 squares at a time in fungus and always open pods without fear of attack if they hatch more worms.
