I read the PC Gamer's highest rating ever review to Alpha-Centauri, so I downloaded the game and it looks great. I went through the interface tour, and ironically my problems began...it seemed to explain about 1/20 of the game! For instance, I move a unit to a land mark, and I receive a prompt which states something like, "Our research has had a breakthrough...Industrial Base." So I click on one of the words, and immediately I'm surrounded by new words, phrases, and explanatory items that contain no explanation - insofar as enabling me to understand how and what terms I need to know in order to influence my next move. The game says that I'm playing well, but I have no idea how! Shouldn't a detailed instructional file come with this complex a game? But it doesn't! The readme file is no help at all. Now what I would like to know is if there's any help available for the demo - instructions which will help me at least get farther than I am with all this info? I didn't play the first game in this series, so I'm fairly lost. Thanks for your help. The "Game" forum seems only to attract answers to posts that begin with such phrases as "You f*cking idiot" or "I'm dying for someone to flame." I sure could use some help here. Thanks again,

I suggest you uninstall immediately. If you don't, night will become day and the curse of JOMT shall be upon you. Your friends and family will abandon you and you will even come to appreciate Yin26's postings in the forums.
Now, if you're still here, my suggestions are as follows:
1) Leave tutorial enabled
2) Set warning preferences (Left menu/HQ/preferences to stop for every event.
Don't worry if you don't know what they all mean, yet.
3) Don't try to PLAY this game right away. Instead, navigate thru all of the datalinks, click on links (LC & RC) throughout every screen. Get familiar with the interface. Even in the demo it is very extensive. There are some errors and omissions in the vast amount of information that you can access. But, that is to be expected.
4) Play the game w/o Ironman on an easy level (the top-most choices)
5) Expect to get pounded the first few times.
6) Don't panic.
7) Repeat as necessary until total immersion is obtained
8) Most of all, HAVE FUN!
