I just noticed that in the longrun, after you get tree farm and such, it seems pointless to have any square in your cities anything else but trees. With both a tree farm and hybrid forest, each tree square gives you 3/2/2 nutrients, minerals, and energy respectively along with the econ and pysche bonus's from those facilities. I cant figure what the point of condensors, boreholes and farms even is in the mid to late game. I figure you could opitize your city and make certain squares give lots of one thing, like a borehole would, or a soil enricher. But its almost impossible to get more overall than you could get with all trees simply because of all the eco-damage. Whats the point of anything but trees? Am i missing something?

I hear ya, man. Trees rock. some people say, "Well fungus is 2-3-3 in the end of the game". That's exactly my point. LATE IN THE GAME. It is worthless until the end, where either you win or you retire. There is no point. Trees, on the other hand, can be useful before Tree Farm and Hybrid Forest, and more useful after those.

When I have my hybrid forrest there is no reason not to put up a borehole or 2... Sometimes even a few conventionel squares with some echelon mirrors (3/1/4) combined with boreholes. Lots of ekstra work for a little ekstra resources.
But forrest rock! Especially combined with ocean 3/0/3 squares. easy to put up and grows everywhere.

If u terraform properly, you do get more resources from boreholes, soil enrichers, and the like, than you do from just trees... just that teraforming it properly can be a pain on bigger maps.

Once you build a hybrid forest, ALL terraforming ecodamage is reduced to zero, so the only ecodamage u get is from mineral output.

Drill to aquifer (makes rivers... +1 energy) + forest + hybrid forest + tree farm is certainly a mighty good combo. But boreholes produce +6 minerals and +6 energy. If you have enough trees to feed your people (presumably in a single player game everyone runs like mad for Cloning Vats), which isn't hard because 1 tree creates 3 nutrients, you can afford to have one or two boreholes per base... and that's producing three times the energy and minerals that a forest space does. Granted, you will start getting eco damage due to the minerals, but play Green and you should be okay.

Actually, fungus is really useful at the end of the game, and I actually start tearing down farms and forests at the end game to add fungus squares.

One, you can easily put an Echelon Mirror onto a fungus square. The Fungus square is still fully functional, but you can now put an echelon mirror on top of it. Granted, you can do the same thing for a forest by either letting it spread into an Mirror or Enricher square, but it's less convenient.

Two, once you have Xenoempathy Dome, it's a great idea to surround the sea approaches to your continent with fungus to hinder your enemies. You can do the same for land bridges.
