Being a relative newbie to SMAC (playing my 4th game), I just had a few questions I hope someone could answer.1) Yang takes no negative efficiency from Police State and other social engineering choices, right? 2) If you use a probe team to commit Genetic Warfare and successfully blame another player, will other players attack them for committing the Atrocity? 3) Is the speed at which one can build units/facilities controlled by the number of Minerals the base is taking in, or by the amount of Energy? Thanks, hope to see you on AlphaHQ.

Minerals are what determine production speed, energy is used for facilities upkeep and then distributed among labs, psych, and economy, determining your income, discovery rate, and psych bonuses turning workers into talents, and drones into workers. |

Foyle, your right about Yang's inefficiency immunity IF you have the patch. It would make sense that if you blame another faction, they get the atrocity penalty but I wouldn't know. |

Thanks all...oh yeah, and one more question I forgot:4) Is all research conducted through your HQ? Because I noticed research projects that affect a specific base (i.e. the Supercollider, the Theory of Everything), and I was wondering how the research system worked. |

All of your bases contribute to your total lab output per turn.Say you had 3 bases each making 5 energy for labs a turn, thats 15 lab points every turn.Once you reach a certain number of lab points, you get a new tech. And there are some base facaltys (SP?) that boost your lab output. The network node is one of them, it gives +50% labs at the base its built. So if a base had 6 lab points each turn and you built a network node you would get 6+3=9 lab points a turn. For the secret projects, they boost lab output for the base its built in.So its a good idea to find a base with some good lab output and then build it there.
