I am playing at the second highest level have a nice number of solid bases of around 6-12 population and growing all the time - new tech every 4 turns etc.., getting quantum labs to all bases and building many hydroponics labs etc..but the gaians have developed massively, they have researched more techs than me, have most of the later wonders and higher armour, power and weapons for military. I cheated and took a look at one of their bases and it had maybe 14 2-12-2 garrison units (or something like that). I am about to destroy my second faction (the others wont be a problem) but how the hell am I going to beat the Gaians or win the game !!! I was thinking build loads of the defense satellites things then try and and planet bust their best bases (ones with their important wonders), especially the one with the hunter-seeker algorithm so I can get a load of probes into their territory and steal all their technology any ideas ?

Sounds like PBs are the only way to go. Make sure you have enough to do at least a good chunk of their colony. Also keep in mind the 4 square limit. You can nail multiple cities if you target the PB at an unit which happen to be standing between 3 big cities. |

Well it seems like you are set on winning by conquest..just remember thats not the only way to win But if thats the way you want to go, then yeah pbs would be useful. If youd like more conventional means, tryp som drop troops..I have found these to be extremely useful especially once you gain orbital insertion capability. also dont forget to use combined arms...use aircraft and artillery to soften up base defenses and then finish off with the ground pounders |

I don't think Drop troops are going to do it. He's fight a numerically superior enemy with a large army. In order to defeat 14 garrison units with level 12 armor, you'd have to use at least 14 drop troops per city. It doesn't sound like he can win the war conventionally.Better get those PBs ready before the Gaians start building their own defense pods. |

I have won - the gaians built the wonder you need to start building the acent to transendence and so we all started building that. Most of my bases had fusion labs and quantam labs and robotic assembly plants so I was generating pretty good trade. I just adjusted my economy to bring in around 2000 energy each turn and started the wonder at the best base which was giving me 80 minerals or so per turn, also sent 8 formers to that base to build extra mines etc.. once every turn. After just 4 turns building the ascent to transendence I bought the thing for 13000 I took a look at the gaians and seems the ai failed to build the wonder at their best mineral base and also there was no energy hurry element to their building - otherwise they may have beaten me and built it in just one turn. Very disappointing if you ask me ! easy - this games too easy - i'm off to get Civ CTP |

Emmm, if you are only playing at Thinker level and not at Transcendent, how do you know the game is too easy?Try the highest level, put the AIs on an aggressive setting, and play ironman option. Let us know what you think afterwards. |

I had a Vendetta with a larger Peacekeeper faction and they were ahead in technology (funny, I was the UoP). So I decided to use PSI warfare, which is less affected by technology. I built Biology Labs and Centauri Preserves and shipped about 4 waves over the ocean onto their territory. I obliterate as I conquer so I don't have to worry about defending anything I conquer. |

Save for PB. I recommend using psi troops against the garrison units. Gaians tend to have low morale because of their pacifist tendencies, that will be their downfall. |

Well, my gaians breed like rats, which helped me rake the Command Nexus, Naval thingy and Cyborg factory :-) Gives quite good morale to all but airplanes. -- MOCKBa |

If I were you I would try to get my most powerful military units and surround their headquarters. Next, keep attacking until you take it, then you can see where all their other cities are. Try to take the next several weak bases you come to and then demand that they give you a city or you will crush them. If they refuse, keep taking the weak bases and demanding. As soon as they give you one, that means they are starting to decline and you have them. Usually, unless they are the believers, you will eventually get them down to one base. Make one big assault with everything you have on it, and you erradicate them. This has been my strategy, but I can't promise you that it will work every time. |

Why even attack their cities at all?Try moving a few rovers in and start destroying terrain improvements. Starve the bastards. Make them lose units because they wont be able to support them. See if they send their units out to attack, then run away. If they follow, try and circle around and take the virtually undefended city. Frankly, I'd like to see a PB which doesnt destroy the cities, or the life forms around like others have recommended (neutron bomb) I wanna see a fungus bomb, which coats the area in fungus! Nasty huh? That size 10-20 city now is starving, has no production, no energy! *cackle* Resistence is futile, you will be assimilated |

Build. That's my tip... You can easily beat out the Gaians through trancendance if you just have enough Drop Singularity Hovertank Supplies pre-built. |

If you are at war with them already, go free market and get some cash. Then build probe teams and use them to mind control their cities one by one. |

When taking out the Hunter-Seeker base, you don't have to crater it. You could kill it with, say, eight X needlejets making nervegas attacks. This is probably the cheapest way to do it. |

Nerve Gas!!! Nerve Gas!!! Nerve Gas!!!If you don't mind atrocities but don't wanna the planet to mindworm rush you, this is probably one of the easiest ways to beat a larger faction. And like I said before: obliterate as you go so the enemy can't take the cities back. |

I love the smell of nerve gas in the morning. It smells like...... victory. |
