You cant send drop troops into water, has to be on land. |

If there is a place where the two land masses are close together you can use your terraformers to raise the terrain in that spot, which will create a land bridge that you can use to send troops across. You can do this early in the game if you build the Weather Paradigm SP. Otherwise you need to have learned the Ecological Engineering tech. This is also a good technique if you are on a small landmass and want to expand to a nearby one. |

By offshore enemy, the assumption is island/sea cities. Build transports and marines early in the game. Later, a group of powerful cruisers will help you takeover these island cities. If your attacking another continent, you can transport regular boys and on load them on shore. Take a former or colony pod if its gonna be a slug fest. Set up an airbase or colony close enough to send airplanes. Until you establish a wider beach head, plan on sending planes rather than troops. You'll need your land units, which take longer to transport, to hold cities. Once you taken some of your opponents cities, you can use them to build land forces. |

If you are after sea bases, cruisers alone should do the job. In an Transcendent game, I took about 4 AAA Chaos Cruisers and kicked down the gates about about 6-8 sea bases defended by Plasma and Silksteel garrison units. |
