I think that this is the best episode yet. The Saratov/Godwinson exchange is certainly among the best yet between any two characters. The introduction of Morgan is well presented. And I am very glad that Lal is back in the story - we Peacekeepers have been feeling a little neglected. : )
I loved the new background given in the story. Keep up the good work, Firaxians! |

One more thing - please bring back the "Morgan Conglomerate" instead of "Morgan Industries." The former term is so much better - more precise. |

I think Morgan Conglomerate is better too. Please bring it back FIRAXIS. Morgan Industries sounds too poluting, Conglomerate makes them sound sorta not polluting.
(I see u messed up on the 1st post Borodino) :) |

There Industries now? I also ask for the return of the conglomerate. Industries occasionally make things of value. Conglomerates just exploit the worker. |

Personally I loved that episode too. Contrary to everyone else though I think Morgan Industries is a great name. It has a better ring to it. Plus it sounds more "Take Charge". Well then again, that is just me. I hope Firaxis doesn't change it. |

I agree that this is one of the best episodes yet. As for the name, I can live with either one. I can see why they abandoned "conglomerate" though. Sounds like a large, slow, behemoth instead of a streamlined... industry. |

Great episode! We learned a lot about Morgan and the dialogue between Miriam and Saratov is also very revealing. We know have a better feel for the factions. |

Excellent. Now as I was saying . . .
Personally, I was not very impessed by how the interaction between Saratov and Godwinson was written. Saratov made a very poor showing for the side of atheism, while Godwinson was in top form on the side of - well, if not on the side of God, on the side of blind faith. She practically had Saratov confessing his sins. You'd think a dedicated technologist like Saratov would put up a better fight than just repeating the word "atom", getting flustered, and fleeing the room. Sheesh, even I could have broken down Godwinson's little rationalizations. |

Yeah but Saratov's a geeky scientist, he's brilliant with machines and not so good with people, we all know people like that right? |

I don't think godwinson (or so) made a good point. Mostly, it was about religion and faith working well as a psychiatric treatment. If that's all... |

Especially as I think Saratov might have a thing for Godwinson.
Anne and Sax? Principally opposed but still attracted? Anyone else see it? |

Saratov may be weird enough for that...but so far, I wouldn't see it. Just imagine the text screens for the planetary council: "Honey, please remove your fanatics from my lab outpost..." |

"Maybe after your fanatics have finished trying to demolish my laboratories we can spend some time together!"
"NOW you wan't us to spend time together? You sure you haven't got another secret project to work on all night!"
"Maybe if you didn't spend so much time at that stupid church of yours you would see how important my work was and give me a bit of support instead of just preaching and trying to convert my scientists all day!"
"Oh and your silly juvenile experiments are more important than God are they?"
"There's no point arguing about this, I'm going to the pub."
"Fine drink your life away just don't expect me to be here when you get back!"
"Fine"
"Fine"

I think you're right Mike. It seemed like Miriam was just trying to get Saratov flustered, as opposed to trying to convert him. I was going to bring it up earlier, but my memory sucks and I was too lazy to find the books to remember their names. |

"She suddenly reached up and grabbed his hands, holding them tightly. He felt the warmth in them, and he felt the tremble in his own hands, and knew she could feel it as well. She closed her eyes."
Taken out of context this paragraph has a completely different meaning then in context but I think it is phrased like this deliberately.

Saratov, a geeky scientist? How the hell is a geeky scientist with no people skills going to lead a whole faction? You're right of course, after I looked back over the story I realized that Saratov was simply out of his element with the overwhelming Godwinson.
But it still seems unrealistic to me that a man like Saratov, basically the symbol of the height of human intellectual development, couldn't summon enough emotional energy to resist Godwinson. Do any of the "geeky scientists" you know seem like the type who could lead a group of people into colonization and combat in strange territory, against resolute and charismatic enemies? A man capable of that would not be daunted by someone like Godwinson. Especially when Saratov REALLY seems to be against religion.
I read way too much into this stuff, I know.
