Is it seconds or something else?

When will it reach zero?

They figured this out somewhere else, I think it ends Oct.15 '98, Im not sure what the numbers represent, seconds, minutes, I dont know.

I went into Babbage's the other day. They have an ETA of Oct 20.

It is oct 8. the first 3 numbers mean hours if u divide by 24 and estimate it it is 20 and 20 to todays date october 8 add 7 oct 15 i think it is the demo date a week before the game

Also, the demo is suppose to be out 3 to 6 weeks before the game.

this is how i did it 485 hours divided by 24HR is 20.2083333333333 I rounded it to 20 and added 20 days till todays date it all adds up to sempteber 8 sorry about that last post i need to learn to think while i type

Except it's not hours but tenths of a second. It's counting down in 10ths of a second.

480/hours 50 minutes 59 seconds 12 tenths of a second = 480505912

IF you look at it the first three numbers are hours it is all a clock counting down

There is an answer in General (I think?).

If you change your computer's clock, the number changes. Using this it was determined that it hits 0 on October 15, 12:00 midnight. Looks like the units are 100th's of a second. (Third digit in from the right is seconds.)
If you advance your system time PAST October 15th, the number actually goes negative!

(Guess this means that the SMAC site isn't Yr2K compliant. That's a joke, son.)
