Maybe it's just me, but I followed the link to the news item on SMAC's award, and I couldn't figure out exactly what the prize was all about, much less its significance.
Can someone help me on this?
If they are giving away prizes on games which have not actually been released, then what they are really doing is awarding a prize for "Best Vapor-Ware", with the criteria being based on the chest-beating marketers. (A bunch of guys who should be first against the wall when the big revolution comes)
This seems like a pretty meaningless prize. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I dont think I'd go so far as to say you are wrong, but there is some prestige attached to the E3. I've never been myself, but my brother has several times, and from how he explains it its sort of like the World Series of computer gaming. Its an absolutely over-hyped frenzy, but it is also the most important platform for seeing what is coming up in the future for the industry. In my opinion winning an award at E3 is prestigious, but then again, thats only my opinion... |

Sometimes fans get enraged when an upcoming game isn't shown at E3. That is what happend with the game Privateer Online and Wing Commander fans. |
