I really miss the old forum format for SMAC. I just can't stand this format. I guess I'm a visually oriented person who has to be able to see all the forum threads and titles. Is there any forum like that out there for SMAC? I'd really love to read the messages here, but I just cant. Not patient enough not to pull out all my hair trying to cope with this format.
Anyone got any suggestions? Comments?

Rock, there are thousands of posts on this forum. I personally like them organized into forum and then topics. It helps narrow down how much I have to search to find where something is. The Topics are listed in reverse chronological order of the last post to it. So it is easy to find what is new.
In addition, some of the posts, particularly in the Chronicles, are very long, exceeding a page on the screen.
I thought as you did, when I first saw it to, but now prefer it this way. |

i agree, stobie. i used to think the wwwboard format was superior, but now i think madrona-style is better because you DON'T see everything at once. in fact i plan on using it for the upcoming civleague. now if only i can find a warez version of this software...

Thomas, I appreciate your comments but I disagree. It is also possible to have the other forum format and still have different category forums, and still have them arranged in chronological listing. The only thing different would be that you would be able to customize what you see, instead of having this format, where all you see are the headers of the first post, which you have to go into to see ALL of the replies to it. I'm sorry, but this is very inflexible and just gives me a headache in general, having to go through subject headers to see if anything worthwhile is in there, and you cant change the subject header in your reply, which is also annoying. |
