This topic is discuss features we would like to see with the message board itself.
Maybe Firaxis will forward these to their provider.

I would like the ability to edit my posts. Too often, I post, and then find mistakes in it I would like to correct. If I, the poster could edit them it would be useful.
Likewise, I have accidently doubled posted. I would like the ability to delete the excess posts. |

....Or at least a spell-checker. : ) |

I like that idea Thomas. I too frequently type errors in my late stage of SMACA, and it would be nice to be able to correct them when I`m in a more non-deliriuos state...

I would like to see the double posts groomed out of the system by the sysadmin. |

Two things:
1. How about putting a "New Topic" and "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the list of messages as well. That should, logically, be the last stuff one reads. Having to scroll up through 104 messages is tiring ***whine***.
2. Why can't I change my password? When I try to do this, the message I get says that since I have changed my e-mail adress, it will send me a new password (new gibberish instead of the one I chose). |

The post reply and new topic ARE at the bottom. |

well how about a post new topic at the bottom of the thread list. |

I'm sorry Charon, but I only have a "Post New Topic" button at the bottom, not a "Post Reply". Weird... |

I use to have that. I don't any more though. |

Oh, ya. I just had Post Reply and no Post New Topic. |

I get them both at the bottom. of the thread, only the new topic at the bottom of the thread list which seems sensible.
I thought that this BB sofware was written by someone else. Perhaps you should send your comments to them. I don't think Firaxis should spend time on this when they have a game to perfect. |

Doh! there is a post new topic at the bottom of the thread list but it is hiding in blue writing and looks different from the little icons for the post list. |

I agree that double posts should be screened by the system. I have even seen some quad-posts. How do these happen anyway? Is this just a glitch in the system? Are people going back and forth in their browser? Does anybody know? |

It seems that when I use IE 3.02 at work, I do not see "Post Reply" at the bottom. At home, where I use IE 4.0, I do see it. |

Well I know it was my ISP a couple time when I double posted. I pressed submit and a few seconds later I got disconnected. When I reconnected the were 2 posts. |

This bulletin board software is capable of allowing editing and deleting of posts. They have the same thing running at http://megaboard.epic.com and they let you do it there. Of course it might be a new version of the software, and upgrading might wipe out all the posts on this current board, which would suck because there's a load of history built up here. |

It would be nice to mark a topic - never see again, and have it disappear permanently for you. |

How about the ability to preview your post (full screen) before submitting it. You use the "back" button on the browser if you decide to make changes. Otherwise you submit it. Many other forums have this feature. |

It would be even nicer to "dissapear" people, for example Red Dog... |

How about FASTER?
I'm on a T1 here at work, but sometimes it takes forever for some things to open. There should be some way to streamline the forums. |

If your T1 is screaming for more, just watch CNN as streaming video while you surf ;)
Sorry just a bit jealous I guess. Don't worry, it's pretty slow on 33.6 modem as well. |

I'm the jealous one. At home I have NOTHING! Zero, zilch, no net access. The closest I have is my parent's place, which has a very slow modem (33.6).
That's another reason I would like a bit more speed. Less time being nattered at by parents when I visit...
At least university classes start in two weeks. Free access there! |

A T1? Too slow?
It's because you are relying on the host server to process the requests and that is normally fairly busy judging by the number of posts on the forums.
They could get a faster server (add 1p to the price of SMAC if they can't afford it. we'd pay, right?) |

If everyone here contributed $1 for a new server, I am sure Firaxis would not mind. However, it's not THAT slow. I am pretty happy just with the fact that it exists. |

How about the adding the ability to go "up" or "down" to new threads instead of having to go back to the forum/thread list. this would save everybody some net time. |

I hate when people say modems faster than mine are slow.
Grrrrrrrrr............. |
