I wonder if (and ask) if you guys at Firaxis could put up a few more images at the cool stuff page. Those two were great, but PLEASE give us some more. We're dying here!

You are right more cool stuff wanted. Maybe AC theme pack would be something that we need. |

I would add my vote for a Theme Pack. Also, how about some .wav files? (goes with the Theme Pack idea above) or even...dare I say it... teasers of the music? Music really makes or breaks a game for me and I enjoyed the Dune2000 web sites having music teasers to download and listen to...

Here is one another "brilliant" idea: How about AC T-shirts, mugs, etc. Firaxis could make lots of money by selling these thingies. There are so many people badly addicted to AC that it would be foolish for the Firaxis not to take advantage of this situtation.
I'd buy anything if it just has a text: "SMAC" :)

Really? I know I'm going to buy SMAC the first day it comes out, but I also know I'm never going to buy SMAC merchanise. I don't think most people would buy merchandise, even though they spend all the waking time playing SMAC, IMHO. |

i would buy smac apparel. here's some stuff i wanna see:
smac t-shirt
a smac cap
smac posters for each faction (morgan should have a huge money sign on it or something)
smac shoes (maybe a deal with nike? :)
smac stuffed animals (mindy the mind worm!)
the smac smacker (great for flies, mosquitos, and annoying kindergarteners) |

I might buy SMAC merchandise if reasonably priced AND if it didn't necessarily have anything to do with the game. By this I mean artwork of the Spaceship or Planet with just the words Alpha Centauri (no the SM part). |

Sitting underneath my TIE fighter poster and wearing my TIE fighter hat, I seek to ponder the intricate nature of game developers, game publishers and third party licensees...
It would seem to me that Firaxis would not have the resources to undertake much in the way of licensing of the SMAC name/logo/concept. While LucasArts and Microprose have the ability and time (I imagine) to come up with these products, negotiate with vendors for the production of these products, arrange the marketing of these products, distribute these products, etc, smaller development houses would have to leave these things in the hands of their publishers (in this case EA, right?) and it would be a judgement call on the publisher's part as to the desirablity of pursuing this. With Star Wars products, LucasArts can't lose, what with the massive built in market as it is. With the more fringe concepts (like say, Imperialism Tea Cups), the market simply wouldn't be there...there is no connection to outside concepts, and there would be no recognition with the public to sell it.
Personally, I would love to be proven wrong about the above points and get the opportunity to get a SMAC poster, hat or mug. I love all three items, and my apartment is a monument to my love of collecting esoteric posters, hats and mugs (like writing to NASA and getting a whole collection of posters about EOS/Topex/Poseidon..fun!)
