How do I make Miriam less agressive? I was playing a game where I air power in 2144, could have transcended around 2210. Then that butthead miriam comes along and declares war. How do I edit alpha.txt to make her less agressive? Or faction.txt?

Y, find the file BELIEVE.TXT that is were you make the change. Take a look at FACTION.TXT it should Give you a clue on how to make the change. Don't touch ALPHA.TXT it controls the game its self.

Y, this is a little off subject but i remember see a reply you posted in a different thread once were someone critised you for your name. you said it was a mistake and that you couldn't fix it. You Can! you can change your profile and name by clicking on profile at the top of the forums. I don't know if this is still relivent but i just thought it could be handy info. Tell me if you do change names.

Y, Sorry My mistake I thought you could change you name. If you dodn't like your name I would just creat a new account but if you don't care then just let it be.
What's the word on your attemps to make the Believers less hostile. If you need help I could make the change myself and Email you the file. I will Scan for viruses of course, using McAfee Virus Scaner.

Y: Since you play at Citizen, yet have trouble negotiating with Miriam, you need to hone your diplomatic skills. SMAC is largely about diplomacy.
Do you play on small maps? Factions are more aggressive when they run out of "living room".
It's possible for Zakharov and Miriam to be best friends if Zak is strong but polite and Miriam is at a distance and having trouble with, for example, Yang.
One time Miriam rang Zak up asking for a Pact against Yang who'd taken two of her bases. Zak agreed, beat Yang off, and Miriam positively cooed. She was very strong but still voted for Zak as Supreme Leader.

I was playing on a small map (the map of europe) and not as the university. But I play on huge maps too.

You can easily edit alpha.txt to tweak the game to your liking. Just copy it so that you can replace it once you have mucked it up.
