itdoesntfit....aka...ajli....You had nothing to do with the slow demise of this forum. Please do not flatter yourself into thinking you have that kind of power. The reasons for the demise of this forum are well known to many and another reason that might not be well known is that these things are cyclical in nature . Period. If no action here then definitely somewhere else on the net. But as I say ....cyclical. |

This place is just sleeping. IDF, you didn't wreck this place, although there are a few you were the last straw for.Imran, I had thought you DID say this place was dead and wrecked a few months ago. And you were mostly not here before that for a couple of months. Old Warrior is right. The cycle will start again after the release of SMACAX... at least for a little bit. The posts of who kicks the most butt, and who is the coolest of them all. Then the bug reports and complaints will start, and compete with the "Who looks better naked?" posts, and the cycle will continue. -Darkstar |

so since smacx is the last installment of smac. when will the forums completely die. We should take bets. I say 5 months and 30 days after smacx comes out. |

Depends on what you mean by dead. I mean, when the discussion turns to all Blah threads? Or when there are less than 5 posts a day? Deadness is relative to your point of view. Just ask Albert Einstein. Oh, sorry, he's dead.SP |

But will EA shut the forums down if there are less than 5 posts per day. Of course there may be a smac2 down the line, but no word yet. |

Firaxis reports that SMAC was a raging hit smash. And that's very believable. In todays entertainment market, that makes it strong odds there will be a sequel. Just don't expect it before Sid's new game.-Darkstar |

Wouldn't it be hard to make a true sequel to SMAC? Pretty easy to make an expansion (obviously just add some more factions, units and techs (easy for me to say)), but how could you make a true sequel? Take it into the galaxy? Start out on AC and discover a tech to take you to other planets? I guess they could make it like Civ 2, where they just update some stuff and re-release it. But that would be like a patch you pay for, which wouldn't be acceptable in today's market. Or you could take SMAC from a different perspective and have Planet factions. I don't know.Idle comments, idle comments, SP |

SMAC2 Back to Earth. Might work. Actually I'm pretty bored with SMAC, plus CATIA classes and other real-life stuff. The expansion will give SMAC life a while longer. About the time it comes out I will be getting a new computer and starting a new CATIA workshop . So at least when it comes out it should be at least a little faster. What I really want to see is the new designed by Sid Meyer game. Any guesses? |

hmm...I'm back after reinstalling my PC (had some trouble setting up my new Diamond Stealth III S540, but finally got it to work!) and I see not much has changed except the forums are in an ever worse state of decline (if you call it that) I think everyone from the "old days" (a couple months ago) is gone (or almost everyone)just wanted to say that yes, there is a SMAC II coming out sometime...saw it on some online interview with Tim Train (I think) I have no idea what it will be (I thought it would be cool if it involved inter-stellar combat), but he mentioned that it is coming... |

Zardoz: Pirates, some indications have pointed in that direction |

Pirates, could be interesting. Sid could bring it up to date and hopefully keep the flavor of what made the original so great. |

they'd probably do a Civ to Civ2. Basic update and expansion. I mean, with a really good game, why take chances?Freddz, you are dreaming and wishing. There are 2 games that have been associated with Sid. Antitiem and his Mystery Game that picks up where SMAC leaves off, and goes to where Civ2 (soon to be Civ3) begins. Or so they have told us. The closest thing you are getting to Pirates is to be the pirate faction in SMACAX. -Darkstar |
