What are some wild ideas that you have that most likely will not appear in any patch or expansion, but you just want to send to the SMAC community. Here are mine:1) There are land and sea bases. What about floating bases (that come along with gravstruts and all that) which could only be attacked by air units? 2) If you have space travel, how about colinizing the other planets of Alpha centari- basically meaning you could fight over whole SOLAR SYSTEMS? 3) Instead of cities revolting from your rule to another faction, how about true revots and new, indepentant factions? 4) An idea for the planetary council rill some large thermal borehole (or something) that would take up four map squares, could be placed in nutral territory, and yeald twice the amount as other thermal boreholes. THIS would be something to fight over!!! What would you like to see, but most likely wont?

#2 & #3 are excellent ideas. Although for #3 I would say just have them turn into independent cities. |

We could make pencils that taste like bacon!.... Sorry.. had to say it. For some reason I don't like the "Take over the solar system" idea. I wish I could figure out why.. kind of reminds me of Stars!2.6h (Or whatever that damn number was).. Too much micro-management. Near the end of the game you had (litterally) GAZILLIONS of planets (or bases), each one has to be monitered for productivity.. make sure it has something to do (production que).. make sure the starbase (garrison) is up to date.. ACCCKK!! I'm going to have micro-management nightmares! Thanks a lot! |

how about they make SMAC players who don't piss and moan about how unplayable the game is?but i like the idea #1. and you could move the Floating City around, too. #2 is a nice idea, but, the liontaur is right: the micromanagement would be a nightmare. #3... is... interesting. i've always thought that City squares should be in a sphere around the city, not just on the surface... but alas, Perhaps in Civ 3... Even Birth of the Federation had dozens of independents. I really don't understand Firaxis's fixation with seven, as I don't buy that it would slow gameplay, because the number of factions isn't what slows the game now - it's the dismal slowness of each unit's boring move from A to B. |

I agree.. the walking city would be pretty neat, if somewhat impossible to program. Maybe have a built in weapons platform on it too? That was the major thing I didn't like in SMAC. NO ORBITAL WEAPONS! ACK! I'd settle for an ion cannon.. or maybe something like a kamakazi (probably spelled it wrong) satilite. That would border on PB type weaponry though..

I have to respectfully disagree. I really do not like the idea of the "floating city" if you mean it will be mobile. A "floating stationary city" is another thing and might be worth implementing.Idea #2 could be done without much micromanagement if they limited the number of planets to maybe 5 known, 5 undiscoverd planets. #3 is the best idea but I still think they should revolt into independent cities and not independent factions, although I admit the distinction could be hard at times.

#1, 2, and 3 are all great ideas. 3 is even possible, since firaxis can probably restore that bit of the CivII code for the game (I don't see why not...) |

Outragious idea: New secret project! The "Propeganda Machine"! Perfect for all those ruthless dictators and bible thumping fundamentalists alike! Keeps lowsy drones under control by making them hate themselves, then directing that hate at whomever you find most insulting at the moment. Features include: Videotaping executions and overloading enemy comm systems with it. Dropping large metal objects from needlejets onto rioting drones. (::THUD:: AAHH!! You killed kenny!) The latter would just be a stress relief for the overworked despot. This would probably be a good secret project for miriam, the hive, or the spartans. It'd be funny if it were done in a Longevity Vaccine (the video) type way; just showing little bits and pieces of what it does (see above). Anyway, this isn't so much an outragious idea, as it is an idea originating from somebody with FAR too much spare time. Have fun kicking this one around! |
