The prototype for thousands of Baron-Crypto clones that once wreaked havoc across thousands of corners of the galaxy . . .
(oh, I'm dating myself, aren't I? Anyone else still reading the forum from those days? Or before? Ah, sometimes I long for the days of the old firaxis board . . .)

Bell, I must confess that I find your suggestion intruiging, it leaves me pondering a new question: Am I the prototype, or merely a copy.
More important questions exist, however. In particular, there remains the mystery of why nipples go hard in the cold.

I'm afraid that, unless you've undergone some kind of temporal displacement, you must be one of the clones. The prototype was killed in a long ago battle for control of the galaxy.
AnnC, you kinda had to be there. Trust me, it was confusing enough at the time.

If you look through all the interface pic files in the main SMAC directory, there is one which has a Baron Krypto Space Puppy drawn in the blank space between the icons.
Quite amusing.

I was looking through the graphics files trying to find the one they used for that ugly assed male librarian, so I could edit it.
AnnC: They were part of a very ancient SMAC forum story, and occupy a similar place in forum mythology as NIM, Azugal, the I club and the IIIS (ask MikeH what that means, I forget what the middle two I's stand for).
About the only way to find the context is to go to the non-smac forums and set the browswer to lookup the last 100 days worth of topics - you might find BCSPs in one of the story threads.
