posted 08-12-99 05:14 PM ET I recently tried to submerge one of Miriam's bases as the Morganites. The base was in the process of building a pressure dome, so I probed it until it lost all of its accumulated minerals. Miriam had apparently just spent ALL of her energy credits on something else, so there was no chance that she could buy a pressure dome in the next turn (She only gets +15 a turn). So the next turn arrives and my graviship formers should have submerged the base. This did not happen, however. The base remained, and in the production box showing the pressure dome with 0 minerals was the word "COMPLETE" apparently, the dome built itself to protect the base ... how thoughtful. Has anyone else had this kind of experience?

I haven't had that experience. Are you sure she didn't pop a pod? Not saying you're silly or anything (esp since AI popping pods is rather rare) but the only time I ever see the word COMPLETE over the production box is when I've popped a materials pod.
Anybody else perhaps?

SMAC is programmed to automatically put a dome over any computer city targetted for submersion. It seems to allow one city to be submerged, then automatically and for free instantly builds domes for any others.
This has reported many times. Its the way the designers programmed the system to defend against humans sinking the computer cities.
On a related note, if a city loses it's submersion dome, it won't drown. Not if its a computer city, anyways.

It's just another dirty AI cheat like the so-called Missile Bug in the previous versions.
