Wait to release weekend and get it on sale at Best Buy for $5 to $10 off if past history is any indication. SMAC, CtP, ect. have been on sale the first weekend for $29.95. Expansion packs have generally been about $19.95 or so.

I live in the wrong neighborhood. Best Buy drenched me for every penny on SMAC. 50-plus bucks...
As far as what I'd do to get SMACx? I don't know. I'd consider getting a $30 gift from a friend, buying it off the web for $27, and keeping $3 for priority mail postage.

I know what I'll do:
Wait for SMACX to prove itself worthy of respect. I'm not going to reverse-pimp myself like some sickly software whore who actually pays to get buggered (not again). This time around, I will NOT be making bug lists and wasting my time with a QA guy who thinks bugs are funny or necessary or non-existent.
SMAX is going to have to beg me to buy it. SMACX will have to throw itself on the ground and beg my forgiveness like the patch it really is. And, if at all possible, I'll get it for free a few weeks from now when one of you guys wants to trade it for my (bugless) freeware version of Pac-Man.
And I'll also be watching you guys do the real beta-testing for me. Thanks in advance. I predict the game will be worth my attention sometime near Christmas (though the missle bug still won't be fixed until March).
