Hey -- Look at the top picture of all the factions at the Alien Crossfire Official site. It that Santiago? And Morgan? And Deidre? And Zakharov? Oh well...
The plot is kinda wierd, though. I mean, how did 5 new factions there? Unity ship II?
I have all kinds of questions:
1) Will the alien factions be able to terraform the planet?
2) Can aliens factions create monoliths, Borehole cluster, and alien artifacts? [I can imagine aliens trying to find their own artifacts]
3) Do the alien factions get some kind of Planet bonus?
4) Does Lady Deidre have some kind of AI that doesn't allow her to Vendetta against alien factions? [Being an eco-nut and all]
5) Are the aliens mindworms or something?
That's all. I'm not stupid or anything, just curious....

well, we know that the Cyborg faction was spawned by the Hive, so it is conceivible (sp?) that the other human faction is of similar origin. as for santiago, who knows why she's still around. i'm just glad someone offed miriam.

Actually, I think the idea in Chapter 1 was that Yang's computers were the one "assimiliated" into the Cyborgs when they linked with the old unity computer piece containig cyborg code.
Anyway, no one really knows the answer to any of your questions, esp. when you start throwing aliens into the equation who knows what Firaxis will cook up? Lets hope its something very different though. The Cyborg faction seems like it will be fairly similiar, but who knows? A growth penalty is an incredible disadvantage, so maybe it, combined with huge bonuses elsewhere will create something which is very different. In any event, it should be interesting to see. Lets just hope they fix some of the mistakes they made in the orginal.

Five new human factions? Where'd they come from? And who's the one with a head that looks like a sea shell with six spikes?

That would probably be the alien. If it is a human faction, somebody has been doing some weird genetic manipulation, if you ask me.
