I like the game for what it could have been, and I also like the story, seven factions, mindworms and so on, but it could have been made much better.

I liked the demo enough to buy the game. I'm probably going to get SMACX. The various bugs have dampened my enthusiasm a bit. But what I've seen in SMAC tells me that Firaxis will be the undisputed kings as releases get better.

In the meantime, I'm also going to check out Test of Time, since I'm so new to TBS that I don't have any version of Civ 2.

But please, Firaxis, make the F4 base window and unit slides maintain their position! (Until the user tells them to move.)

By the way, I agree with Nemesis about the pricks who voted 'dislike'. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but the fact is these 2 have been posting on the forums for months & months and obviously play the game all the time. Can't be that bad then can it?
Stick to Pac Man or Donkey Kong in that case - probably more your style.

And I am fed up with people who want to repress the opinions of others just because they differ. C'mon, get over yourself! Unless I am your boss/wife/kid/friend, or unless you are a shareholder in the company which owns the rights to SMAC, why do you care what I or anyone else thinks or says about the game?

I mean, most people like ice cream, but some don't. That is their prerogative. Damn conformist nuts! You're going to get us all killed, or at least stuck in a boring, repressive society.

You are entitled to your point of view as a human being. You are even entitled to change it when confronted with suitable evidence.

In return, we are entitled to you making the effort that your posts can be legibly interepreted by speakers of some standard of international english. I, amongst many don't like cing people sk8 and this sort of crap.

It's not funny and it's not smart. You demean yourself by this.

To the point in question. Mr Morris does indeed have an inalienable right as a human being to express his love for a game - however buggy and ****ed up it may be.

However, where I worry, is that there are so many brownnosers who sniff the **** of a FIRAXIS tag and will jump just as he says.

OK, I exaggerate. But to do so in a public forum, I think this is just another example of ill-advised public pronouncement.
