my friend is also into SMAC and on his computer using excel he made a mini verion of the tech tree poster, without all of the arrows, showing all of the techs, with thier colour, in order how far up the tech tree they come. I use it when I play SMAC, highlighting the techs as I get them, and I find it makes it easier, being able to tell how far up the tree you have got, and which type (conquer, build etc if blind research is on )you have resaecrh most of. I asked him, and he said it is alright if I share it with the rest of world, if they haven't made their own version that is.
