This has probably been brought up before, but has anybody from Firaxis said what the missing techs in SMAC were supposed to be?

If you look at Blurbs.txt,

Tech 24 - Inertial Dampening: was taken out
Tech 70 - Global Energy Theory: was taken out
Tech 71 - Nanomatter Editation: renamed Matter Editation
Tech 77 - Satellite Reconnaissance: renamed Orbital Spaceflight

and something weird is
Facility 38 - Mass to Energy
I assume it was just a preliminary name for Stockpile Energy.
