I am currently playing a game and am losing big time to the Believers. Then after an hour later I nearly destroyed them. I keep trying to make communication, but with Sunspot activity I can't make any communications with anyone. morgan is also about to die, but I can't kill him. I want his vote. If I don't get either, I'll never repeal the U.N. Charter. If I put Bell Curve, what will and won't happen?

itdoesntfit: Well, since the Bell Curve removes all "random events", my guess is it will remove all the events listed in script.txt between (and including) the captions "#VOLCANO" and "#NETBONUS", maybe except Perihelion (which is cyclic). This is just my guess, but I hope it will help anyway.LoD |

Well, if you have sunspots, then go nuts with Nerve-equipped units against the Believers. Gene warfare, city destruction and nerve gas attacks go unnoticed by the other factions except for the one your fighting during the sunspots. So go on a burn and pillage campaign. |

What about Yang? Is their anyway you can make peace with Yang? I always try to make peace with him, but he keeps annoying me and I have toi give him all sorts of stuff to make truce, and when I ask him for something, he just cuts me off. |

Itdoesn'tfit, first off, although I must say that I have found that all of your message threads make me laugh my ass of, I would like to reassure you that I am laughing AT you, not WITH you. Still, I will tell you how to deal with Yang. Don't. It's that simple. I NEVER give Yang tech, money, or any assistance. Contacting him is always a real pain, as most conversations follow this path: Y: Greeting Mr. X(usually Zak, Lal, or Morgan), I see that your retarded followers have made a home for themselves..blahblahblah.. ME: *OK* Y: I see that you appear to be withholding vital info, you will transmit your pornographical images to me at ONCE! ME: Oh, I don't know, I mean, those are all originals, I had to go through hell to get them, please don't take them... Y: SILENCE! FOOL! NOW YOU WILL DIE! So, as you can see, it's pointless. Just build about 3-4 defenders at each of your bases, make sure that you keep them upgraded (I have found that a unit with superior armor/weaps can hold off about 4-5 lesser units, esp. if you have bunkers/sensors) Usually what I do, if I have Vendetta on 2 or more ppl, I'll start probing and blaming each of them. In my current game, I am Lal on thinker (first lal game ever ), and have vendetta against yang and miriam (who woulda guessed). Miriam is close, so I keep inciting riots, draining reserves, stealing tech, and blaming it all on yang..> Wank |

Good joke! Well anyway, I'm not afraid of losing to him, I'm trying not to kill him, but to get his vote in proposals. |

ive found you need a lot of help it.another key is to attack, attack and attack, this is even more important with miram. even if your enemy has the same exact tech you'll almost always have a 2:1 advantage. ~kelso |

Is there anyway to get Miriam to make peace with you when you are the Pk's? |

you could always switch to fundamentalism. But if she is 1 or 2 on the power graph you won't be able to do it. |

Is there anyway you can get anyone to vote for repeal U.N. Charter, without kissing and making up? |

Actually, Yang will almost always vote to repeal the UN Charter. Although in all of my games that have gotten to the Planet Buster stage it seems he doesn't give a rats ass, as he launches them whether it's repealed or not.Wank |

i have never been pb'd by the conquerer factions with the charter in place. The morganites are the only ones that pb'd me. I seen the gaians use on the peacekeepers once too. That's it. |

In Civ2, diplomacy is a big deal, is it that important in SMAC, because I never actually make peace (unless I'm forced or bribed of course...). |

forced to make peace? You can play the game any way you want to. But you can't say diplomacy is less here than civ2. There are so many things you can do with diplomacy. Trade cities, give cities, coordinate battle plans. Civ2 had nothing. You were treaty, vendetta, or truce. You could trade techs that was about it. Or demand tribute for patience. And the biggest diplomacy issue here is trade. In civ2 you had caravans, but here you must be in a treaty to get trade with a faction. You are missing a big source of energy. |

Nonsense, Yang is a great ally, you must appease him, if you the player can get off your high horse and offer some techs he is a quick pact brother especially if your following his economic model.Once I had yang as a pact brother and sicked him on miriam. His fastest route to her was through my territory. What did he do? He moved his units in my territory and started giving me wave upon wave of highly disiplined troops (I was Morgan). He was giving them to me so fast I had to disband some as they were getting transfered. Did I use them on Miriam? Hell no, I saved em up on his border and used my own units to fight miriam off. Then when he got uppity I did not cave to him and sent his own army crashing down on him. That's how you deal with Yang. |

SMAC is a fighting game. Time spent by the other factions not fighting you allows you to build up a commanding tech lead before you eventually do go to war. Keep 'em reasonably appeased, then kill them off. |
