How on earth do you people win with only 10 or less cities. To me, it's impossible. How?

Morgan has beaten me with a few cities, an economic victory. How does one prevent i.c.s. (infinite city sprawl)? Its tiresome seeing every faction cover their territories with bases in every game. Id like to see fewer, more strategically placed cities.I would also like to disable seaborne colony pods/aquatic cities.

there's a thread on how to transcend early and get hall of fame (HOF). on the smac section of apolyton. I'm still working on it. I still have a tendency to build at least 15 cities to build a good size army.

Actualy I've won with only ONE city. A while ago there was the single city challenge. It's actualy alot easyer then one might think, once one changes how they approach the game. Most of the games I play I usualy only have 5-15 cities... 5-15 fairly well developed cities granted....

How do you do that! I need at least 45-60 cities to win! You people musn't be going for that high population score.

going for score is different. I have had over 150 cities once going for a high score. But you don't need that many cities to win by transcendence.

I win most of my games wuth 15 of my cities, plus 30 or so captured ones.

As a small faction you to do several things:

-Activly acquire technology (with or without probe teams).
-Maintain peace with most other factions.
-Have Active Defense (in otherwords counter-attack before enemy units can hit your cities.)
-Prepare to crater any city that would build the Ascent before you.

Then all you have to do is transcend.

How do you aquire so many cities? I have to build all mine. I always end up burning all of them.

burning?
One game I just wanted to run up the score. I built drop colony pods and filled every land square I could find. I'm not sure what you mean by beaucracy. I just build hab complex/dome and put them on stockpile energy. I was losing energy to innefficiency, but that didn't matter at this point. I had already crushed ever other faction.

Is that ever or every? Well anyway bureaucracy=more drones. Every 15 cities is one Bureaucracy, until you have 4=+1 drones.
