posted 07-13-99 08:52 PM ET I often see plusses and minuses after the morale rating on my units, e.g. 'Veteran (+)' Does anyone know where these come from and what they do?
When I change my social engineering MORALE rating does it apply to all my current units or just the ones I build under the new SE settings?
Finally, what does 'plus modifiers halved' when you have a negative MORALE rating mean?
Thanks!

1. I think the (+) is from SE. It keeps the named morale level and just adds on # of levels = to # of plusses (oposite for -'s). This is so you can get more than elite. ex: elite = +50% elite (++) = +75%
2. Plus modifiers halved refers to the morale boost you get from children creche

1. There are different reasons: - You have a high SE moral value and get, for example, "+1 moral (+2 for defense)". This will create one '+' when one of your units is attacked. - Your unit defenses a city with a children's creche. The moral bonus of the creche is added as one or two '+'.
But: You can't get above 50% green(++)=12.5% veteran(++)=50% elite(++)=50%
2. The SE moral value only affects new units. The moral of old unit can only be improved by battles and '+'.
3. If you produce a land unit in a city with command center, it normally gets "hardened" status. When modifiers are halved, it should only get "disciplined".
