I have - twice.

Once when I first got the game - I mean you've got to go through to the end at least once.

The second this week, where Yang was voted Supreme Leader and I dissented. I tried to prove a point, I could have transcended, cornered the energy market but, wtf, I had to show Yang, Deidre, Mim and Santiago the eroor of their ways.

Anyway, I PBed them to bits while they were launching the solar shade - the sea levels went up and down like a yoyo.

Yes it takes along time, and I think you need the patience of a saint to do it...

unl;ess, of course, you go for a rush early on.

Not really to be advised when playing as Morgan, though.

Sometimes I do. Depends on the mood I am in, and how often they have ticked me off.

Sometimes I take a nice peaceful Diplomatic Victory.

Sometimes they won't let you do anything less, and the game is over before any other options have been discovered.

I do, all the time (yes, I still play SP). I quit allowing surrender factions. When I go for a conquest, I go for the whole planet. It's more demented (oops, I mean fun) that way.

I do it all the time in thinker and transcend. I'm not a very good builder and the ai never lets me build. So I just go out and kick their ass. If I don't I almost always lose. I usually don't do conquest victory. I will leave 1 or 2 cities left. This cuts down on turn time also when all of my units are on hold, and the ai has none. Then if I'm close enough I will transcend.

I too, so far, have not finished with a conquest victory. However, bear in mind that I have only had the game for about 3 weeks.
Anyway, so far my game progress has been like this:

2 Games on easiest (citizen?), was ANNIHILATING the ai, so I just quit when I took a look at the faction dominance chart and saw that I was about 10 TIMES higher than the next powerful faction. (both UoP)

1 Game on the next lvl with morgan, gave up after about 20 turns cause at that time I didn't know how to play Morgan.

1 game on talent, geians, quit, didn't like them too much.

2 games on librarian. First with Morgan (after reading numerous Morgan strat guides and combing thru the forum posts, REALLY helped, esp Michael, whom I actually emailed a save game for his opinion), ended with Supreme leader victory =)
second with UoP, stopped playing about 70 years in, realizing librarian wasn't funa nymore

currently in Thinker lvl game with UoP
only me, Deidre, lal, and yang left. D and L are my submissive pact siblings, yang just pissed me off by PBing 2 bases that held like 7 shard needlejets each. So i'm gonna TRY to be patient enough for a conquest. hehe..Just PBed his PB producing base...next target...the Hive HQ MWUAHAHA

OOh, that was long. My hole (so far) Smac life story

Well actually I finish all my games as I cant find it in me to let any of them off the hook. Gas ...PB...base obliteration...deadly viruses.. I cant help it I have to do it.

On a side note ..I finish all my games on conquest... No other way except one time I picked up a save game close to the end and after I conquered the first time I tried it as Transcending. I bought it off relatively quickly to see what it was like. Didnt do anything for me. I prefer to completely annihilate eceryone and everything. But hey...thats just me.

You have to do it. You must have obsessive/compulsive kick the ai's ass syndrome. No survivors. I suffer from that one too at times.

Krushala...its like that in any game I play...kill all and be sole ruler/survivor.I guess I got that way from playing alot of old wargames with my brother and had to be that way in order to survive against him because thats how he played against me.

It's a great way to play the game. It's the only way I seem to survive on transcend. I usually only transcend for the points and percentage. But if the turns are getting too long, I'll go ahead and take the last couple of cities.

I only play UoP (I just love the tech advantage), and almost always transcend (or have a diplomatic victory if I want to win in one turn, i.e. buy off everyone's votes). I try to expand as peacefully as I can so that I can get a lot of commerce, but the other faction leaders never let me, so if they attack me I'll crush them into submission.
But twice I've conquered the planet--one time the other factions wouldn't lay off, I was the only one with PB technology, so I just wiped them off the face of the planet. The second time was the same way (I'd used some nerve gas on the Believers or something and everyone declared Vendetta on me at once), but that time I only PB'd a few cities until the sea level rose so high that almost all of the enemy cities were submerged and wiped out (Miriam didn't even have the ability to make a pressure dome yet!) After that there were only a few sea-bases left, which were easily PB'd away. The whole thing didn't satisfy me as much as transcending, though, probably because Planet was so scarred and unliveable after I was done with it.

hm, maybe its me, who is insane, but i never wipe out all factions, and having no time to finish a game by ascent to t. i choose the diplomacy victory, if possible.
one game i tried to keep all factions in game by giving them some seabases i built especially for that purpose. but stupid miriam denied communication (having only 2 bases left) and got wiped out by evil *pb unlimited* mr. yang. that was kind of *real* UN-game.
