What really is the definition of a newbie. Is it the number of posts or the date registered. How long they have played the game seems reasonable, but can't be verified with profiles. I have only been registered a month in a half (A former lurker), but have been posting fairly regularly. This way newbies know when they qualify as people (from the I want to see how many people(and newbies)use this thread).

There is no such thing as a newbie.
It's just something that a few people (including myself) like to speak about as a joke, mocking another group who calls themselves "vets" because they have been posting since waaaay before SMAC came out.

The best definition I ever heard was "If you need to ask the definition of a Newbie you still are one." I agree with Oldwarrior and RedH though, there's no real difference between a newbie and a vet but they have made for some good story threads.

MikeH: Right on. Only newbies think that there is more to the newbies/vets when it's actually just a plot device.

Did that make sense to anyone? "If you believe that newbies exist, then you are one, because they don't exist". Does that make me a newbie for saying that?
