In a thread now forgotten to my dimming memory, I falsely claimed that version 3.0 lacked F4 base list ordering options. Truth is, I wasn't paying attention; if you click on the Best Bases button, then choose a row (eg, Minerals or Nutrients), then the base list changes to reflect the order of the bases from highest to lowest by that measure, or something approximating what we understand by it. The list even has a heading stating what the list order reflects. The UI isn't polished to a shining finish yet, but this is a step in the right direction. Thank you, whoever implemented this!

Without the forums playing this game would be really awkward. I really have to thank ZoeTrope, I tried to find it out, but gave up before noticing it (I usually can learn a copied game w/out any documentation, like all cool guys here around can do, but when I have manuals and datalinks I become kinda lazy). That was balatantly undocumented, or did I skip something? I came even to the point to interpret 'ordering' as 'giving orders' (if you right-click you can e.g. hurry something w/out popping out the base window) instead of 'sorting'!!!The more I look, the more I dislike the UI. It doesn't seem polished to me, I'd rather think they're adding new functions and extensions, but the overall look is slimy and unevenly aligned. >8 I'll give my cooperative contribution, but first I want to gather all what looks good and what looks bad to me, then I'll kick a new topic. Bah. If you think SMAC's UI is gross, wait until you play CTP's! |

I shouldn't haver ever peeked Stars!, that UI spoiled me. Guess I'll be waiting sometimes b4 I get CTP. I never even saw the MOO's, I'd better catch up, an go back instead of rushing ahead. |

Yeah, Stars! UI is good, even though the graphics are not. Why? Because it's similar to the standard OS that we are already all familiar with, just like CivII. IMHO, SMAC and CTP (especially CTP) messed up by changing this.Pique |
