I keep on hearing on how you can customizing your own factions yet I can seem to find the command or the files for it. I don't mean just changing the names and title of your leader before you start the game. I mean changing the the bonus and disadvantages of the factions itself. If anyone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it.

It's pretty simple once you figure it out. You should have a file called Faction.txt it's basically a copy of giains.txt only with comments.Unfortunately there's a couple lines you have to figure out for yourself. The name of the files are <faction name>.txt You'll need to copy the movie and voice files to from another faction or make your own. Which are in the movie and voice directories of course. Or you can get ACEdit. The url to which is in a recent message here with ACEdit as the subject. |

As much as I like the idea of ACEdit.. I started with notepad and am quite happy with it. I like knowing something of the actual files. You don't learn much from editors but if simple stupid is what you want go for the editor. |

Iman,I believe the readme file explains a little bit about this stuff. I've only briefly messed with these things, so I'm no expert. But in your Alpha Centauri folder (where terran.exe is located), you'll see .txt files with faction names in front of them. That's where you can mess with all that stuff. Make sure you make backups first, just in case. |

The URL for ACEdit is: http://www.sidgames.com/acedit/ But editing the text files yourself is more fun and also you get to learn more about how the game works. |
