  Someone is giving me tech?

Author Topic:   Someone is giving me tech?

Later in the game I discover techs I am not researching. The message appears- new tech- good. But when I access the F2 that was not the tech I was discovering, and I had not YET finished discovering the current tech.
I can speculate and say that my good allies, the University, were giving me the tech, but there's no way I could not, because it doesn't say.
Anyone had this free tech problem?
Anyone know what it actually is?

Have you maybe built the Planetary Datalinks project? I might have the wrong project(can't check from the lab), but I'm sure there's one that gives you any tech known to three other factions.

I don't think so, those were cutting edge technology, and only University could get them so fast, and being university at war with all other factions I don't think University would give away tech.
The tech could be stolen of course, but still, I find it disturbing.
In the chance that it was Planetary Datalinks acting it should say that we got the tech through Planetary Datalink, hum?
I didn't notice any such message.

I usually try to build the Planetary Datalinks and I've noticed that there's no specific pop-up message to say that you've discovered a new tech via this SP... the new tech just pops up unannounced. Can be confusing, especially if you're playing with Blind Research, and so aren't sure what you're researching yourself!! Would be nice if a pop-up could be added - in CIV2, a pop-up informed the player when the Library of Alexandria gave you a new tech, which was handy to know, not to mention very satisfying! Maybe an addition for Patch 4??

If its not Planetary Datalinks, then you've got me stumped. Wish I could say that's the first time someone has done that. I have noticed there's no special message with it, like NS said.
