Well. This topic was long gone when I came back from my Spring Break. Enough with the negative stuff. I doubt anyone plays the game to complain in the Forums. . .Yin maybe but if I remember right he says he's an alien.I do get the "just one more turn" syndrome so here's why. . . Contrary to believe the Design Workshop is great. I like to design my own units. Upgrading is good, except it would be cool if we could also upgrade them through Production. Whoever said the design workshop is unbalancing--that's true. But how many players design ships in Orion I/II to lose? Of course you're going to mount your 200 space (after full 10 Adv. Techs) Stellar Converter, Time Warp Faciliator. I mean, isn't it just cool enough that you can do that? I love 3.0 for improving on the status screen (M/I) and I can build spy probe Rovers again! Don't you just love the 3-d terrain? How many games that have such low Hardware requirements have 3-d terrain? Build your Olypmus! Destroy ocean floors to create your Atlantis! Personally, I love creating a mountain right in the middle of Monsoon Jungle and then drilling an aquifier. Well, point being--if you're playing to complain and whine then you aren't playing at all.

Aamen!I also play this "just one more turn" game. This game has so much I like, that the flaws I can accept. Anyone willing to sell me some more time? |

Do you have 300 credits, or Mind/machine interface to trade? The game is great because it is fun. Read my post in Strat/tactics about small vs big maps where I talked about a game I am playing that is so excitting. when pacts are signed, wars start, techs are discovered, it is hard to turn the game off, you wish it were not 1 am in the morning and you have to go to sleep. That is why the game is great. |

Between experimenting with customizing graphics, sounds.. searching the net for material I can use and playing the game I've lost more sleep in the past 3 days than I care to imagine.. and I've only had the game a week. I'm such a customizing freak it's unbelievable! (You should see some game designs I'd like to do myself. -eg-) I'd rewrite the entire communication scripts for each separate faction if I could.. configure this configure that.. replace a faction I don't like with something more interesting. (I've already replaced Peacekeepers and Believers which I intend to never use again. heheh ) I just love designing my high tech units. The only problem is that by the time I get to test them out I'm so much farther advanced that either I win before I get the chance or they just sweep through everything that it's not a very real test of their abilities. Still.. they're my pride and joy. |

I hate to be a pessimist but the "why i hate SMAC" has more replies than u. |

Zeratul: I just think the Why I hate SMACers are more vocal... the game lovers may be spending more time playing and less time complaining....And although I also am "one more turn" addict (I can't believe how quickly my just 1 hour tonight turns into double or triple that), I do think that the commentary on these forums as to how to make SMAC better is a worthy ideal. I gotta say that although it hasn't happened to me yet-- I'm going to be pretty annoyed when PBs and missles start raining down on me from out-of-range bases! |

Zeratul - Then don't. It's been my observation, and you don't have to look very far to confirm this in many cases but.. those who are in the minority are usually the ones who make the most noise. Especially when it comes to whining and complaining. Those few who do.. do it all the time and get in everyone's face about it. The rest of us in the majority are just happy little campers with better things to do than waste everyone elses time. Like drop kicking the Hive into the next century. |
