Lately I've been hearing of people getting 30+ size bases! And I can never seem to get mine past 16 at the highest, even in the late game. How do you all do that?Secondly, how can you control the number of turns you get to to advance to the next tech level. One turn I will advance in 9 turns, the next turn, I will see I will advance in 35. What is with that? Regards from a newbie,

things you need to boom the population:- Gene Splicing Technology for lifting nutrient restrictions - Industrial Automation for building a Hab Complex (population > 7) - Super Tensile Solids for Habitation Dome (population > 14) - Environmental Economics for Tree Farms (+1 nutrient in forest squares) - Planetary Economics for Hybrid Forests (another +1 in forest squares) - Biomachinery for Cloning Vats (secret project for population booms) - Biogenetics for Recycling Tanks (+1 Nutrient) - Planetary Networks for +2 Growth - Orbital SpaceFlight for Sky Hydroponics Lab (+1 Nutrient in ALL bases!) - Ethical Calculus for Children's Creche (population growth) With all these, start building Sky Hydroponics Labs, which you can build over and over again. Right know I'm playing a game and my biggest city has the size of 49 and nutrient input at >100 |

The reason that you can't get past 16 is becourse you don't have a hab dome. Normally you need a hab dome to get past size 14, but there is a secret project that lifts the limit by 2, or you are playing peacekeepers who can allways exceed the limit by 2 |

that should be "raises" not lifts. Also replace "becourse" with "because". Have mercy on us non-native English speakers  |

Well I have more than enough Hab Domes, so I don't think thats the problem.PS - how do you control Drones at that level (49)?? |

Once you get over 20 it gets easier to control drones - any new citizens start as specialists because there's no land left to work. With bonuses to psych output you can generate 6 or more psych per new population. The thing you need for huge bases is a population boom. This can be brought about by +6 GROWTH or the cloning vats. Once you have that they grow 1 population every turn until their growth rate is stagnant (no more nutrients to feed extr population).Cheers James |
