You may have already tried it out ... James Thorpe's SMAC Research Assistant ... if not, take a look at it ... you can grab it from the SMAC RESOURCE SITE: http://members.tripod.com/ACHeaven/captcomal.htm The program lets you specify what you want to get (what facility, what tech, what weapon, etc) ... and it gives you the list of the Techs you need to have in order to get it. This would be a very cool application for the Palm Pilot! In the middle of the game, you decide you need the Hover Tank ... just whip out your Palm Pilot and check what Techs you need in order to get it! The program is quite small at a bit over 400K. The deal is that the C++ source code is available to anyone who would like to port it over to the Palm Pilot. It should end up much smaller for the pilot (get rid of the print routines, the screen gui, etc).
