On gamespot, the alient artifact looks different from my computer's graphic representation. Is this due to different video/3D cards? I also noticed a difference in the screenshots of the gamespot review of SMAC.
If it is a video card thing, what card would optimize my SMAC? I have a HP celeron 333mHz computer @ home.

Certain things just changed over the development of the product (the unit cdesign screen is an oft cited one). The artifact was another.
