Has anyone else found this to be annoying?
How come you get a bonus to your defence vs artillery, if you're in the open? Oh yes, the game says, that you can manoeuver to avoid incoming shells. But this doesn't work in rl. Artillery is an indirect fire weapon, which means that you don't actually see your target (spotters aside), and that you are actually firing at the target AREA. Also, since you can't be sure where your target is in the area, you will be saturating the whole area with shells so that the target will be hit (most likely) no matter where he is, unless he has COVER. And that, imho, is the only real protection against artillery fire (as can be looked in history books), not movement. You can't move fast enough and far enough to avoid artillery fire, as the whole area where you can be is going to be targeted.

So all this aside, how can I change this (in alpha.txt I presume)?
I have looked, and looked, but I just can't find it anywhere in alpha.txt. There just doesn't seem to be any mention of defending against artillery.
Anyone found it?

If it makes you feel better, assume that by the time we reach Chiron, our accuracy will be so good, and our sensors so good, that we will shoot right at the enemy.

But then also the shots would be so accurate they would acount for movement in midflight, and re-target themselves.

Artillery barrage in forests are deadly because of tree splinters acting like shrapnel. That would explain one aspect.
