posted 03-17-99 06:48 PM ET I like the fact that Fraxis put most of the game files in common formats. However one thing I'd like to see is a simple scripting language we could use for AI's. Many people have complained that the AI is just too stupid. Now in Quake this problem was solved by allowing players to customize Quake (via QuakeC) to their content. The result, Reaper Bots. While I'm sure it will be a lot of work (perhaps for AC2?), I think some sort scripting would be nice.. Especially for us AC addicts/CS majors.

Gotta agree with ya there Arcane. As a computer consultant who makes his living (and a damn good one at that ) writing UNIX shell scripts calling SQL scripts I would LOVE to see a scripting language for the AI.
However..........
At the same time I'm not sure it would be a good investment of Firaxis's time to create such a thing. (Providing that the executable could support it at all) I mean, if it takes them major effort to do so(which it probably would) then that effort is wasted on all the non-CS types out there. In all fairness I'd rather that they just improved the AI, that way everyone would benefit from their effort. As opposed to benefiting only a few of us by making an AI scripting language. <kicks self in head for arguing against something he would love>
