Okay. I'm playing Morgan. Every turn I hit "," and check how much money I need to corner the global energy market. Eventually, I get the necessary amount, so I make an attempt. It says something along the lines of 20 years for me to win. Well then the game goes on, and I hit "," to check how many years I have left to go. Well this thing starts telling me I will have cornered the global energy market in ~7500 something. Bummer, the game ends in 2600. What did I do wrong?

Nothing,

What you are seeing is a bug in how the counter displays the turns needed. Within the code itself, the 20 years is tracked correctly and after 20 years you will be rewarded with economic dominance.
