I am first time PB user, as morgan (Strange, I never need to use PB as Yang). I am the dominent player, I repeal the UN Charter, then creates a crater each for the capitals of UoP and Miriam.Neither one of them is anywhere close to getting any PB. I forces are far stronger then theirs. And I have a large stockpile of PB's. Being a merciful person (I did try to see if they are willing to surrender before I use PB, to bad SMAC doesn't offer you a choice to threaten them with it), I decided to offered them peace (OK, surrender), but they refuse, even though I have eought PB's to flaten them next turn. Now here is the question, Is the computer players more likely to capitulate when 1). I have PBs and they have none, 2). The UN charter is repealed, and 3) I have proved my willingness to use PB? History and logic says they should, but my experience so far with SMAC says otherwise. Is this only a Morgan thing? George

Computer is likely to surrender when s/he sees forces under it's own nose. If your PBs are next to his cities, s/he is more likely to surrender. Sometimes all it takes is one city and a few units around the capital/big city. |

The AI's surrender trigger is hard to figure out. I have had them surrender when I took only one of over 20 cities on occasion, but more often I have had to take them down to only one city LEFT. It could be either extreme or anywhere in between. They seem to surrender faster if you have adapted their social choices, but I haven't really tested this out. Pique PS- I'm talking surrender and swear a pact to serve me here, none of this 'peace for the good of the world' crap... P |

After I actually used the bomb on them, They absolutely refuse to surrender. I eventually have to destroy both UoP and Miriam just to end the game. By the way, I did get the UN Charter repealed before I use the bombs. After every city I take I will talk to them and igve them a chance to surrender. They keep calling me the monster and refused. You know what, next time I will just fight conventionally as I alway have. George |

Even with the UN charter repealed or sunspot activity the faction you commit the atrocity against will forever hate you so they won't surrender once you murder their civilians. On the other hand, perhaps the other factions should be willing to surrender to you once you have PB'd another faction into a series of lakes. |

They should hate me. But in the situation where I have an other 8-10 PBs waiting to strike them, no one else coming to their aid, Maybe logic, even fear, should take precedence. They can hate me all they want. But do they really want every last one of them be blasted to radioactive dusk?George |

One more thing. Before I actually use the PB, should factions without PB take into consideration the fact that 1) I have PB and they don't, 2)UN charter is repeal so there is nothing to deter me from using the PB, 3) They have no defense against PB?I know I will give in to factions if I am in that situation. Pay money to buy some time, arm myself with some defense pods. George |
