Ok, this has probably been done before, but I 'd like to hear some unit design ideas. (beyond the colony pods with drop pods stuff) One that I've been having luck with is the PROBE TEAM with drop pods. This is already cool, but add the ability to make an orbital insertion....and dang. INSTANT response time anywhere in the world.

I've never tried it, but can you get a submarine cruiser probe team? And I really like churning out elite, armoured Transformers (errr ... Trance Formers). For those cities where you want to build a sattelite after the Space Elevator a 1e-1-10 Empath chopper is a must  |

Formers with Psi defense. They can fight any non-Trance unit on even terms. And a C-pod that can drop. Found new cities anywhere on Planet.<=O=E |

Yup, I build and use sub cruiser probe teams as soon as I get the techs. No port or seabase is safe! Also, better armor on specialist sea units (formers, supply, probes) is not as expensive as on their land counterparts.Actually, armored sub supply units are even more useful, for grabbing all those seagoing mineral and energy squares. In my second-most-recent game, my highest mineral base (and it was well up there in energy, too) was a seabase, because it had 4 or 5 sub supply units on mineral squares with mining platforms.

I think I stated one of my favorite ones before which was an Assault Ship that I named the "Tarawa" class. It carried mix of air units, air to air jets(SAM capability), ground attack jets and helicopters. Also on board were some Marine infantry unit types. It was a foil naval chassie with light armor a carrier deck and repair bay. Had an Escort ship for it which was a AAA type with deep radar I named "Tigerbell Escort" class to spot enemy units a distant from the assault ship for early warning and to launch an air attack on enemy naval and air units before they get to close to the ship. These two ships working together conquered 5-6 UoP bases, both sea and land bases too. |
