The King is Dead - Long Live the King...
Sid Meiers is a legend in this industry. I honestly do hope that he can survive the release of such a sub-standard game. I hope that Sid did truly fight the release of this flop. I can understand EA's decision to cut their losses and push this dog out the door,( hopefully Firaxis can move on), I just hope that Sid (et.al.) can indeed produce something that removes some of the stain from their aura.
Through-out all the trials and tribulations that SMAC has had, one thing stands out - The dedication that Firaxis(i.e. Jeff &co.) has had to these forums. I believe that this will help them retain their customer base, so that when they release their next game, people will be willing to give it a try.
Thanks to Firaxis and EA - better luck next time.

Sub-standard game? I wonder which game you've been playing? Is it the same one that has had rave reviews from professional reviewers? I hope you are talking about another game, because then your arguement might make a little more sense.

Ouch. This may have become the quickest thread in the history of the forum to turn so nasty so quickly.
Rubikhan: I don't know why you are so disappointed in SMAC, but I wish you well in further computing ventures. I'm sorry that SMAC apparently is the game for you, but your disappointment does not mean that the game "is a stain on their aura" [Ok, OK, so that wasn't a direct quotation. It just seemed right.
yin: A wonderful attempt at sarcasm. Not more than an attempt, but a good one nonetheless.
Ashbri: I've not seen you before, so you might be new to this forum, but prior to ... oh... about two weeks ago, we forumites at least tried to be polite and rational in our discourse. Now if you are a forum regular whom I've somehow missed, then I understand your frustration at the plethora of seemingly-anti-SMAC threads, but one can still be civil.
Undertaker: The propagator of that rumor has retracted his remark. We know that you are anti-SMAC, but promoting a known falsehood in an attack on honorable and diligent people is beneath even you. Please show some restraint in the future.
