I'd like to minimize SMAC every once in a while to do things like check email, hide the screen when my boss walks in :P, etc. There's nothing in the manual as to how to do this. If there's no way to do this, there should be.

Leave your Word/Excel/Visual Studio or whatever pertains to your job open. Alt-Tab into it when the boss walks in. |

If no programs are open, play on Ironman and save (goes like lightning, no sound, nothing.)Lack (now thoroughly pissed off at the bugs in this board like NEVER SAVING MY PASSWORD! Arggh! Yes I have cookies enabled!) |

The "Alt-Tab" suggestion worked somewhat, but the game *still* occupies my entire screen *and* if I'm not running windows in 16-color mode, all of the buttons, etc, in my system tray are little black squares. |

Ok, maybe that didn't work as expected. A few more options:1) Turn off your monitor (though your boss would be wondering why you are staring at a blank screen) 2) Turn off/reset your computer (if you have an ATX power supply, hit the power button would only suspend it. Once your boss is gone, push it again to go back to the game) 3) As Lack said, turn on "Iron Man" in your customerized rules. Hit Ctrl-S, Enter, Enter, you are back to the desktop. Seems 3) is the best option. The only problem is if you turned on the option to zoom into a base when something is complete, and you have 30 bases waiting for you to inspect, it takes a while to get out of all the base screens. In that case, 1) or 2) is probably better. Any more bright ideas? |

Hey, thanks for asking. We're doing fine, just a bit sleep deprived (especially Jane.) Sean's a pretty mild-tempered kid, except when the poor little guy is exploding with gas--then he just wails and wails, and I do my best to coax it out of him. He's still pretty small, but he's been putting on weight steadily the last few weeks, and now tops six pounds.ObSMAC: I have had occasional spells of SMAC time since Sean came home, so I haven't gone totally insane yet. ;-) I've got this great Thinker level Morganite game going... We now return to our regularly-scheduled work evasion discussion, already in progress. |

Errrr (blushing), Lee, Sorry about the gender mix up for Sean. My memory isn't what it used to be. I'm glad everything is fine with all of you. Happy SMACing!

It's a measure of my general fatigue level that I didn't even notice the gender gaffe. So don't worry. :-) |
