Should I be able to air drop my combat units more than once a turn? I can airdrop the same unit repeatedly, even if it doesn't start on a base. If it can reach another base with the drop it takes no damage, but if it can't make it to a base it takes 20% damage and I can drop it again. While it's great to be able to move my unit all the way around the world in one turn, it just doesn't seem fair. I'm playing the patched version and I'm not using shift-i to drop, I'm using the right-click menu. I think the menu has something to do with it, because if I try to use shift-i it will only let me do it once. Has anyone else seen this?

Do you have the Space Elevator Secret Project? If you do then you are supposed to be able to drop all the way around Planet. |

Nope, no Space Elevator. It's not a problem of how far I can drop in a single drop, it's an 8 square limit. I can just continue to drop 8 squares away, as many times as I want with the same unit on the same turn. |

I've been exploiting this bug ruthlessly. I employ concentrated airpower to eliminate city defenders and then drop into the now-vacant city. Repeat as often as necessary until I run out of available air units that turn. Then use freebie worm units for garrison work until there are no hostile forces within range. I can on average add one to two cities per turn this way once the AI makes the mistake of declaring vendetta against me. Within 5-8 years the AI begs for peace ... <grin> |
