I've just finished playing a game on Talent...
I reduced Miriam and Deirdre to only one base of size two each and YET they still refused to submit to me....
No, I didn't commit an atrocity on them or anybody. In fact, I was even on Noble/Unsurpassed. They even still went on about wiping me off the face of Planet. Later on, they even went against the decision of the council to vote me Supreme Leader.
What were they waiting for ? Garland coming back from the dead and lending them a horde of Singularity Hovertanks to obliterate my, oh, 48 bases ?
A bug, methinks....

Never happen to me...
I am on Thinker level, and I just have Miriam surrender with 6-7 bases. Have you change the personality of the computer opponents?

Wildfire-i did have a similar experience. i was UoP with scrupulous (sp?) morals, on a bitter war with the Believers and had a treaty with Gaea's stp daugeters-got the drop pod tech and started to kick Mirium's @ss! trouble was that the gaeans were at was with the believers as well, and after I captured a few belever bases and politely asked them to leave "my" territory, they declared vendeta on me!We fought for a while (and I NEVER commited atrocities) and suddenly Derdrie is on the comm accusing me of butchering thousands of her followers and she refuses to submit. I finally had to wipe her out >sigh< but in not sure why I was forced to do so. I had a similar expierince of being accused of atrocities by the whole planet when all I did was pass through the Spartins terrirory with a trasport foil (although I had accepted their surrender earlier).

I finally stumbled in a suicidal faction too.
I reaaly was wondering wich kind of game were evrybody playing, coz mostly the factions I battled surrendered even before I could enjoy some battering (I played transcend only in the demos).
Now I was the Hive, faithful & unsurpassed, 3 pages of 16some-sized bases in F4, chaos penetrators, Librarian, one-based Miriam as a slave, triyng to kick unruly spartans, when Lal turned vendetta on me (had a Treaty) coz I asked him withdrawal of some nasty probes of his. Gulped 5 of his 6 bases in my backyard (including HQ), erased his defenses in his last base, at which gates was a speeder of mine ready to invade.
Well, he refused to surrender, incredibly threatening me, asking dunnowwhat.
I had Police State, Planned, Wealth, maybe that was what made him behave like that. Something like "I'd rather die for my freedom than surrender a tyrant of your sort!" would have been more realistic and appropriate tho.
